This was a book I did for The New School’s College of Performing Arts. Serving as a look-book for a college that comprises classical music, jazz, and drama, I wanted to indicate the cross-disciplinary approach of the school, letting the excitement of performance serve as visual inspiration. The central images fluctuate between rich, vibrant stills and quiet, black and white photographs. Those images bleed one page into the next to bring a cinematic narrative to the page and show the exciting work these students are producing.
One of the biggest challenges of the book was figuring out how to print the black and white images as silver duotones. Trying to reference tintype photography, the final images and background color floods have a slight iridescent quality, a subtle nod to the silver screen.
